[All surnamed HARGREAVES] Maria,head,widow,aged 52,born North Bierley. Joseph,son,unmar.aged 26,Laabourer,born Parish of Halifax. Esther Hanah,dau.unmar.aged 18,Spinner at Mill,born Parish of Halifax. Mary Ann,dau.unmar.aged 15,Spinner at Mill,born Parish of Halifax. Martin,son,aged 11,Coalminer's boy,born North Bierley. John,son,aged 9,Coalminer's boy,born North Bierley. ======================================== So Maria in her 'widowhood' had 2 sons ! I got the ref.from the 1851 census card index,then went back to the original source and looked at the microfilm. There were no problems with reading any part of the entry----the above is exactly as the enumerator wrote it down. It looks like you'll have to get Martin's marriage cert.to find his father's name [if known !!!!!!] Maria must have been a VERY MERRY WIDOW. Cheers--------Derek Barraclough.
