    3. Hi Stuart, John Dean was also in the Bradford area in 1851 as a child with his parents. The whole family was born in Shelf [not Sheffield],and so was I,a few years later ! Bradford Census 1851 Cleckheaton District. Old Popplewell,Scholes. [All surnamed DEAN,all born Shelf] William, head, mar.aged 37,Coalminer. Hannah, wife, aged 33 John, son, aged 8,Scholar. Lucy, dau.aged 6,Scholar. Alfred, son, aged 4. ======================================= They had moved by 1861--- Bradford Census 1861,Wyke District. [All surnamed DEAN,all born Shelf] William, head, mar.aged 47,Coal proprietor and miner. Hannah, wife, aged 43. John, son, aged 18,Scholar. Lucy, dau.aged 16,Bonnet and dress maker Alfred, son, aged 13,Worsted piece hooker [Their address this time was---- Chapel Fold,Wyke.] ======================================== The fact that John was still a scholar at 18 is most interesting.I wonder which Grammar School he attended ? A possible could have been Hipperholme [which I attended, but a few years later !!] I didn't have time to see if William and Hannah were in the Bradford area in 1841 so I'll do it next time. Cheers-------Derek.
