    3. [From a book by James Parker of districts round Bradford,1902] This old landmark is situated at Whitfield Hill, and was built by Dr.SUGDEN,IN 1789,who owned the estate around there, including Whitfield House. In 1822 it was occupied by Robert WOODHEAD as miller,in 1837 by John MITCHELL,and for a period of several years it fell into disuse and went to ruin nearly, and Francis Sharp BRIDGE,of Horton Old Hall, became the owner of it. In 1852 Benjamin BARRACLOUGH took it,then his son,William BARRACLOUGH, followed his father, now Benjamin BARRACLOUGH,grandson to the above, has been miller there for 16 years [1902] ======================================= I remember what remained of the mill when I lived in Shelf as a child, but what there is now I couldn't say. Cheers------Derek.
