My great-grandfather was: George Riley born Abt 1827 in Bradford he married a Elizabeth Agley in Bradford (date unknown). They had a son, my grandfather, James Agley Riley born 22 Sept, 1853 who married a Amelia Ann Mitchell 30 Nov 1874. James died on Auckland New Zealand 25 Dec 1930. James was a sponsored immigrant to New Zealand. He emigrated and left England in 1878. His sponsor was a John Riley who came to New Zealand at the age of 28 in 1842 on the 'Thomas Harrison'. At the time of John's immigration he was listed as a cabinet maker and was accompanied by Mary age 36, William age 9, Mary Ann age 5 and John age 1. My grandfather apparently referred to these children as his cousins. I am trying to find out if George (born 1827) and John (born 1814) were brothers or other relative (Uncle?). I live in Canada these days so any help on this or any information on the Riley or Mitchell and Agley family connections would be much appreciated.
