One of the difficulties I found with the 1841 Census is trying to understand how the places and the references relate to each other. It's all rather confusing: Most Districts contain more than one Township, although some are a single Township, and the Township of Bradford is so big that it needs two Districts. Each District (and Township) is divided into a number of Enumeration Districts. The Census is arranged in Pieces, each of which can have 10 or more Parts. Each Part contains around 2 - 4 Enumeration Districts from one District, but Parts from several Districts are often found together in one Piece. Similarly, many Districts comprise Parts from more than one Piece. There - told you it was confusing!!! Anyway, to try to make sense of it all, and to help me find my way around the Census and the Bradford FHS Index fiches, I devised the following lists, which I'm posting here in case they are of use to anyone else.
