Please could anyone tell me where the registers are kept for Cowling Hill Baptist Chapel, in the parish of Kildwick? The NIPR gives no information at all. I am looking for the birth of Eleanor (or Ellen) EMMOTT in around 1767 (or a later baptism entry): she was a minor when she married John STOW in 1786, and according to her MI she was 76 when she died in Feb 1844. She doesn't appear in the Keighley FHS transcript of the Kildwick Parish Church baptism register, or on the IGI, and as there are several EMMOTTs in the Cowling Hill MIs, I wondered if her birth might be recorded there. Thanks for any help, Arthur Kennedy akpak@waitrose.com http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~arthurk/

However, IF there are any registers, then the most likely place they will be is the PRO. As you will know, the NIPR says the chapel was founded in 1744 and was a branch of Bacup, Lancs, until 1756. The only other reference is to the Baptist Handbook 1861. Not very helpful, I know!
