    3. Hi all, Have just joined the list in hopes of breaking down a big brickwall. My Great grandmother, according to the 1901 census aged 37, was born in Bradford Yks. She does not appear on the 1881 census, no birth registered on the GRO index anytime in the 1860's, no registered marriages anytime between 1880 and 1901. Also no marriage for her in the GRO Index of Marriages registered at British Consulates marriages 1880-1895. Of 6 children, 2 born in Romania, and the rest supposedly born in London, only my grandmothers birth certificate is registered. Her name on this is given as Aimee Florence CARNEGIE, formerly WILCOX. According to family story, she had been married before to a WILCOX and her maiden name was WHITEHALL. Two other branches of my family, from other children of this marriage (Carnegie) who I have only recently made contact with, all have the same story about her maiden name and first marriage. Aimee Florence WHITEHALL was apparently a Catholic, and the eldest of her children was buried, age 12, in St Patricks Catholic Cemetery, Leytonstone, London. My query is what were the names and how many Catholic Churches were there in Bradford in the 1860's. As a Catholic, am I right in thinking there would definitely be a baptism for her somewhere? Also, would I be right in thinking that her first husband would have had to have died and that divorce would not have been an option in the 1880's? I am beginning to wonder if maybe there is no marriage recorded because if the first husband was not dead then maybe they just said they were married. Apologies for the length of this but wanted to give all the background I have, which as you see isn't much at all. Hope someone can give me an idea of where to go next. Cheers Lynne in NZ
