Hi Glenda, I thought I might as well go right back to 1841 in the search for ATLAY/ATLEY in Bradford. I looked at all 6 surname index booklets of 1841,but there were no Atlays/Atleys anywhere in Bradford. Bradford Census 1851. Manningham District. Arcadia Place Richard ATLAY,head, unmar.aged 27,Wood carver, born Sheriff Hutton. Elizabeth Rawson, servant, widow, aged 40, born Leeds. ======================================== Bradford Census 1861. Manningham District. Belgrave Place. Richard ATLAY,head, mar.aged 37,Wood carver employing 2 boys, born Sheriff Hutton. Ann ATLAY,wife, aged 32,born Brownberry. ======================================== [I looked at 1871 again] Bradford Census 1871. North Ward. 2,Trafalgar Street. Richard ATLEY,head, mar.aged 47,Wood carver, born Sh.Hutton Ann ATLEY,wife, aged 44,House duties, born Richmond. ========================================I presume that Brownberry is a place near Richmond, for Ann's birthplace, but I can't find it on a map. Cheers------Derek.
