    1. [ BRAD] Introduction - BELDON interest
    2. Christine Digby-Johnson
    3. Good evening folks My name is Christine Johnson and I live in Sydney. NSW, Australia. My interest is in the surname of BELDON and the towns of Keighley, Bingley and Leeds where my Beldon families lived. My ancestor Joseph BELDON born circa 1790's married Sarah "Sally" HODGSON (b. 2-12-1797) on 1st October 1815 at Keighley. They had the following children known to me: Thomas 1818 - Keighley (my ancestor) Benjamin 1820 - Keighley Ann 1823 - Keighley John 1825 - Keighley William Hodgson 1829 - Keighley Joseph Circa 1835 - Moscow, Russia B.S. Joseph was a Mechanic by trade and it is probable that the company he worked for sent him and his family to Russia on a work contract as his last child Joseph BELDON (Jnr) was born in Moscow Russia (B.S.) circa 1835. As I have not been able to find the death of Joseph or his wife Sarah Beldon in Yorkshire I am wondering if Joseph & Sarah died in Russia as the 1841 & 1851 UK census records their children living with either their grandparents (Thomas & Sarah Hodgson) of Paper Mill Bridge Bingley or other relatives on the Hodgson side with no sign of their parents Joseph & Sarah. I know Joseph Beldon was deceased by 1838 as the Isaac Bowcocks Index of Apprenticeships records his son John BELDON, born 9th January 1825, parent Joseph BELDON mechanic Dec'd. Apprenticed to Richard Fowler, Indenture no. A118, Indent. Date 27th December 1838. John Beldon living with his uncle and aunt Richard and Susannah Fowler. Susannah being the sister of his mother Sarah Beldon (nee Hodgson). I seem to have hit the proverbial brick wall as I don't know where to begin looking in Russia for confirmation of their deaths?. Any advice would be much appreciated. Cheers Chrissy
