Hi List, My name is Joyce & I was born in Silsden,but my parents moved to Blackpool when I was 2yrs old. All of my maternal side comes from the Bingley & Haworth areas. My mother was one of three children born to Mark SHACKLETON & Sarah Ann HOLLINGS. Mark was one of 9 children born at Bingley to William Shackleton & Margaret Buckley/Buckler.. Willam Shackletons parents were Samuel Shackleton & Elizabeth SMITH(though I can,t find marriage,about 1835),all born Bingley. Margaret Buckleys parents were Abraham Buckley & Hannah LUMB Abraham is one of my brick walls,he was b.c 1785 & thats all I know. Hannah Lumb was b.c.1805 at Harden,no more info. Sarah Ann was one of 8 children born to Joseph HOLLINGS & Ann WILDMAN,all born Bingley. Joseph Hollings parents were Samuel HOLLINGS & Alice WILMAN,of Stanbury. Samuels parents were Joseph Hollings & Alice HUCHINSON of Stanbury. My father was one of 3 sons born to William ELY & Alice JOHNSON at Skipton. Williams parents were Samuel ELY & Alice KIRKBRIGHT,both from Ripley area. Samuels parents were Guil Ely & Mariah MOORHOUSE,born Ripley area. Another brick wall,no baptisms for either,no trace of Elys in the area. Mariahs parents were Samuel Moorhouse & Martha MORRELL(details from Samuels will). Alice JOHNSON (formerley THOMPSON) was a widow when she married my grandfather. She was born at Richmond & had a son George born 1893 at Richmond. I would really like to find the marriage of Samuel Shackleton & Elizabeth Smith,I have checked parish registers for Bingley,Cullingworth & Haworth but can,t find it anywhere.
