Hi All, As per recent request to introduce my interests I can offer the following. I am relatively new to genealogy and have recently been finding out a lot of information on a part of my fathers family tree. I owe a great deal to one of the lists members Derek deShelfe for aiding me so far in census look-ups. I live in Canada now but came here from NZ. The predominant family is RILEY. Most, if not all of one generation appears to have immigrated to New Zealand in the 1870's. The confirmed family line is as follows: Joel Riley married Hannah Penny in 1818 They had the following children (maybe more). Sarah, Joseph, George and Mary. Sarah married a Matthew Hammond abt 1841 and immigrated to NZ in 1842. George married Elizabeth Agley in Birstall (Dewsbury District) in 1846 They had the following children: Hannah, John William, Henrietta, James Agley, Joseph and Georgiana. John William married Mary Jane Wilkinson in 1874 and immigrated to NZ in 1875 James Agley married Amelia Ann Mitchell (parents Thomas Mitchell & Mary Lambert) also in 1874 and immigrated to NZ in 1878. Hannah immigrated to NZ with by then widowed mother Elizabeth in 1879 Henrietta married a James Garnett and came out on the same ship as Hannah & Elizabeth. Joseph it is not known for certain, but evidence indicates he may also have immigrated to NZ. Georgiana appears not to have made it out of childhood as she disappeared between 1861 and 1871 census. George died June 1861. Would like to confirm earlier RILEY family and also the spousal connections.
