I'm still struggling vainly with my Thomas and Martha BREAR(E) of Manningham, but despite a lot of information from a lady with a transcription of the Addingham Parish register up to 1812, I am still unable to be certain whether or not they are the couple that married in Addingham in 1809. 'My' Thomas BREAR died in Manningham in 1857. His age is given as 69 on his death certificate, but as he was only 60 on the 1851 census, there may have been some doubt. Martha was certainly a few years older. The census said that they were all born in Manningham Is anyone with access to later Addingham records able to tell me if the Thomas BREARE born there in 1784 died there? At least that way I can "eliminate him from my enquiries". Alternatively can someone explain why I am able to find neither the birth of this Thomas BREAR, nor his marriage to Martha, nor the birth of any of his children (Mary, Ann, David and William) except a daughter Sarah, who was baptised in Bradford Parish Church in 1811? Which registers should I be searching for Manningham? Help please! Margaret Switzerland
