I have one JOHN FARRER christened in Bradford Cathedral in 1792 who also has a brother Henry christened in Bradford Cathedral in 1787 both of them having a father called John, but I also have A John FARRER christened in Bradford Cathedral in 1973 who has a father called Richard. On The family vault, we have both John and Henry, but John's date is 1973 (which maked him being the son of Richard) but I can't find Richard having a son called Henry. So how do I find which is the father of John - is it John or Richard ? Hope this makes sense, as this is my first attempt at this list. Maureen

It is quite possible that the date recorded on the grave is incorrect. That is not uncommon. That date might have been deduced from John's age at death which could also be out a year or two. Also it was not unusual for the inscription to be done many years after the death by which time memories could be faulty. One possible solution would be to have someone look at the burial register. If John died young the register would likely say "John son of John Farrer of (wherever)" If you need the name of someone in the Bradford area who does this sort of thing for a very reasonable fee contact me off list. Good luck, Gordon in Ottawa
