Hi Everyone, I was searching FreeBMD last night for any new entries and found a Frances GARTHWAITE marrying possibly a Francis Frederick SMART in the Dec Qtr of 1895 in Bradford. Around 18 months ago I found a picture in a family album of a house called 'Wensley' in Long Crendon, Buckinghamshire. My enquiries to the local archivist revealed this property was lived in by Mr and Mrs Francis and Frances SMART in the 1930's, who I had no known connection with at the time as far as my EDMONDSON research was concerned. Frances GARTHWAITE was born 1869 in Shipley to Charles GARTHWAITE and Lydia KNOWLES (of Cleckheaton). Lydia had a sister Jane born 1849 Cleckheaton who married into the Edmondson line. So it looks as though this house was connected after all but to the other side of the family. Does anyone have any connection to the Smart's below in order to see if there are any descendants from this branch, I would dearly love to hear from someone. The son Francis was married and still living in Shipley in 1901 so moved between 1901 and 1924, before that Wensley was owned by Frederick William SMART (the Fred listed below maybe?) Francis is listed as a 'writing master' in 1901, any ideas what this might be?
