    3. Hi, After posting my introduction, I have had kind responses from people trying to find my elusive Emily HUDSON (some of you have also tried after earlier postings) I thought I would give you all the details I have, so that if you do fancy putting on the Deer Stalker you are armed with the appropriate information! My Grandmother's birth certificate shows her parents as Emily BROGDEN formerly HUDSON and Talbot BROGDEN a Railway Drayman of 45 Tennyson Place Bradford, she was born 17 Sep 1912. Her parents marriage certificate has the following information: Talbot BROGDEN 24 years Railway Drayman of 42 Tennyson Place father Samuel BROGDEN Dealer in Scouring stones (Hawker) Emily HUDSON 25 Years Hotel Chambermaid of Victoria Hotel Bradford father John HUDSON Gas Stoker The Parish Church of St Peter Bradford 26 December 1911 witnesses John Breare and Fanny Brear. I found a John HUDSON a Gas stoker on the 1881 census in Manningham with wife Grace and daughter Ada, (one of my great Aunts is named Ada). I was sure this would be the family, so looked them up on the 1891, and yes they had a daughter born in 1886, but her name was Matilda. I got the birth certificate for Matilda, hoping to find her middle name was Emily, but non was given. Grace is shown as Grace E HUDSON but the E stands for Ellen not Emily. I have purchased various birth certificates for Emily's born in 1885/6/7 but non have had a father named John. Emily and Talbot had daughters Emily, Ada, Clara and Louise. When Louise was just a baby, Emily left Tablot for another man, leaving him with the three older children. My grandmother being the oldest was left to care for the others and never forgave her mother for leaving them, so refused further contact with her, therefore my mother never met her grandmother. I believe Ada is still living in Bradford, her married name is KELSEY and she would be in her late 80's. Clara is alive but non compos in Sheffield her married name is Rae, I tried to ring her from here in Australia, she was so pleased to hear from me she went to put the kettle on to make me a cuppa and never returned to the phone! I tried a couple of times, but it was too confused. My Grandmother Emily married Thomas CREASER and they both passed away when I was only a child. Well, if you care to take up the search I would be only too pleased and am happy to attach copies of the certificates for your viewing. I have a gut feeling that Emily and Matilda are one and the same, but at this time no proof. Thanks for taking the time to read this, regards Sharon Australia
