Thank you Derek. You Bradford people are just the greatest! These three families are not mine - Joyce has come up with the correct family, one living in Spring Forley (?) Place, Manningham , headed by Thomas BREAR a stuff weaver, and his wife Martha, and with 'my' David age 20, a cabinet maker. However I should be interested to see if either of the other BREAR families you have found includes a Samuel BREAR (age about 13). In the 1881 census I found a Samuel BREAR and family living in Belgrave Place. This was the address given in 1849 by Thomas' son David BREAR on one of his children's birth certificates, but I have not been able to establish any connection between the two BREAR families.
