Has anyone done any work on the family of Thomas and Martha BREAR who were in Manningham, at least from the beginning of the nineteenth century? I have a lot of information, but it just doesn't add up. For sure I know that Thomas was a weaver and died on 27 May 1857 while living on Whetley Lane. His age at death was given as 69. His wife Martha was a laundress, older than Thomas according to the 1851 census, and still alive in 1861. Certain children are Sarah, Mary, Ann, David and William, born between 1811 and 1826, but I have found none of their births. David married Maria HAIGH in Bradford in 1841: Sarah and Mary were unmarried laundresses. The IGI lists a marriage in Addingham between Thomas BREARE and Martha ROBINSON in 1809, but I have no proof that this is the correct one. Also I am very wary of this information as the IGI lists a possible birth for "Thomas or John" BREARE in Addingham on 1st Sept1784, baptised 17th September. Has anyone access to Addingham records who could check that out for me please? I've never come across an 'or' before! Any help or information would be greatly appreciated. Regards Margaret
