I've found the Red Gin marked on the 1884 Bradford map by Bacon. It's at the junction of Bowling Lane and Baird Street Bradford Stewart
Hello List Further to the Red Gin information provided by other subscribers I offer this piece from "History of Bradford" by John James from the CD by Colin Hinson. The author is talking to a 90 year old resident about Bradford as he remembers it in the 1750's. He says of the Red Gin the following "The first turnpike road about here, led past the Red Gin, in Little Bowling Lane, (Manchester Road). There was not a house between Townsend, (where the roads from Little Horton and Great Horton, meet Manchester Road) to the Red Gin public house. Hope this helps add to the information David Rawnsley -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Wednesday, 5 July 2006 4:21 AM To: [email protected] Subject: [ BRAD] Red Gin again I've found the Red Gin marked on the 1884 Bradford map by Bacon.
