Hi Barry Undercliffe Cemetery is unmanned and is a charity. Most of the paperwork etc is done by the Friends of Undercliffe Cemetery. All volunteers I believe. The last time I went I went armed with a map which was obtained from the Friends for a fee. This fee also included a search of who was in the grave. Very detailed including all dates. Your best bet is to write to them and ask for whatever you want. The phone is answered if anyone happens to be there so therefore it is quicker to write. They do not have email either. Their address is:- The Lodge Undercliffe Cemetery 127 Undercliffe Lane BRADFORD West Yorkshire BD3 0QD Tel 01274 642276 Hope this is of some help to you. BTW We nearly lost this cemetery to developers some years ago.Bought for £5 they statred lifting and smashing the grave stones/markers, buildings etc and there was a huge outrage about this. Fortunately, it was compulsory purchased by the Bradford Council and work started to fully restore the cemetery. You will be able to read about it somewhere on the internet as the above is a very condensed version. I have a booklet which I think I purchased from the Friends called 'Undercliffe Cemetery' Bradford's Great Heritage in Stone. If it is still available it is well worth having as it shows pictures of some of the biggest Memorials. It is written like you were taking a tour of the cemetery. Sorry to have gabbled on - this was meant to be a couple of lines <vbg> B lessings Judith K ----- Original Message ----- From: "Barry Emmott" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Friday, July 14, 2006 7:55 PM Subject: [ BRAD] Undercliffe Cemetary >I visited Bradford last week, armed with the grave reference, grave number >and a photograph of my gt gt grandfather's grave and went to look for it in >Undercliffe Cemetary.
