Hi Would anyone have any ideas as to a Village or town that maybe could start with a Y and end in OLM I have a HOLT family in Keighley in 1851 where the children Arthur, Edward and Edmond are listed as being born in this town. Regards Sandra

Some 19th century enumerators had appalling handwriting. The reason I think it's "Yorkshire" is that if you look at the entry for the wife, Mary Holt, you will see that she was born at St Austell, Cornwall (Bradford having been crossed out). So when the enumerator came to list the children after her he had to put Yorkshire at the beginning of the line and then Bradford. I've studied it for several minutes at different sizes and I am 99.9 per cent certain it says Yorkshire. Compare it with the very first entry on that page, right at the top, where it says quite clearly "Yorkshire, Keighley" and I think you will see what I mean. So yes, it is undoubtedly "Yorkshire".
