    3. In 1861 Nancy has her widowed daughter Sarah Burton living with her, one of her children age 6 is Tamnar Burton, could this be Tamar Stead the grandaughter, mislabelled as a Stead in 1871. (If you want the image let me know) I can't find a Tamar Stead in 1861 (including trying under James which is a common mistranscription of Tamar), so I wouldn't assume the granddaughters were illegitimate, just orphans of older children. Since Emeline appears consistently as a grandaughter until the last census, I would assume that one was wrong and the enumerator wasn't listening properly, or didn't copy the information down correctly.
