My uncle Samuel Cook Tuxford was killed on 1st July 1916, the first day of the Somme, he too was a member of the same regiment. Have you been to Thiepval? I find it the most moving momument. It is now 14 year since I was last there - I went in October 1992 to "tell" uncle Sam that his brother my father had just died. At the time the memorial book for the "T"s which would have included your Gt Uncle was missing. and have often wondered if it has been replaced.
