I could use some insight from others regarding the terms 'full age' and 'minor' as they pertain to a marriage certificate from 1840s Bradford. I've posted a scan of the certificate in question at: http://www.thepeplows.com/data/wood/woodrobertbrewersarahmarrcert.JPG At this time and place, was the cutoff between full age and minor the age of 21? If so, it appears that 17 and full age are written for Robert, and wouldn't that be contradictory? Or does it not say 17? Sarah's age, based on census returns, would have been 17 +/- 1 year at the time of this marriage. Was it possible that her age was written in the space for Robert? Many thanks for any tips. Andy
Hi Andy It says "Of full age" (ie over 21) Best wishes Janet C >From: "Andrew W. I think it says "of full age", not "17 full age". Debbie ----- Original Message ----- From: "Andrew W.
