Can any one help me fill in details TIA When they came over was spelled Dickenson Arthur Dickenson, born 4 December, 1862 in Farnley, Yorkshire, a son of Richard and Ann Dickenson (Richard was born abt 1836 in Wibsey, Yks and Ann was born abt 1835 in Bowling, Yks and they had at least 6 children). Arthur Dickenson married Ada Emily Oddy in the Dewsbury District of Yorkshire in 1881. Ada Emily Oddy was born 19 March 1863 in Tong, Yorkshire, a daughter of Edwin Oddy and Ann Johnson who were married in 1862 in the Bradford District of Yorkshire. Edwin Oddy was born abt 1843 in Tong and Ann Johnson was born abt 1844 in Bradford. Arthur and Ada Emily emigrated, it looks like Arthur in 1882 and Ada Emily in 1886 although it seems to change to 1883. They lived in Fort William West in the Thunder Bay District of Ontario where Arthur worked as a CPR employee. There, they had 2 children: Richard, born 24 July 1887 (and died 4 Aug 1888 in Port Arthur, Ontario from inflammation of the brain) and Edwin, born 1 July 1889 (obviously both boys named after Arthur and Ada Emily's respective fathers). Sometime between July 1889 and May 1892, they moved to B.C. and had the following children, all listed in the 1901 BC census: May (1892), Richard #2(1894), John O.(1896), Arthur(1899). On BC census the name was changed a Dickinson Richard born 1894 married Beatrice Milner Jan 23 1915.. Still looking for a record other than the confirmation on Richards military records. He went to England with the Canadian overseas Military October 1914. and maybe marriage records are in the military areas???? also looking for any previous trips Beatrice Milner made to Canada prior to 1914, and her journey after Richards death in Sept 1918 as she shows up in Victoria BC about 1920 Maybe this line joins up with some of the other Dickenson/Dickinson Robyn Phillips
Just a side note on the Canadian military records. They are well worth the money to obtain them. I have gotten the records of 2 great uncles who served in the CEF and they are very detailed. 'For one it even had a record of the day he was given off to get married and the address of his wife where his allowance was sent.
