    3. Do indexes exist for either of these cemeteries? I have dates for ancestors' burials, but no information about memorials etc. Regards Margaret Switzerland

    3. There is not an index for Scholemoor, even the cemetery don't have one. They have invested thousands of pounds putting the registers on cd/dvd and there hasn't even been an index done with them. It is a poor way of searching because the whole page doesn't come up on its' own You have to keep scrolling sideways and then when you want another volume or another cemetery you have to holler for someone to change it for you. It was much easier searching through the ledgers, even though you needed the muscles of Tarzan. Their search fees are very expensive if they do the search for you. I can't remember exactly what it is but it is going on for £50 GBP for some searches. I think the lowest priced search is around £30 GBP. Scholemoor Cemetery is one of my bug bears at the moment, not the people who work there's fault but Bradford Council. At one time, if you found a burial in the register and gave them the burial/grave number, they would look at a card set and give you the burial numbers of other people buried in the same grave. Free, a few years ago, £5 GBP per grave after reviewing their policy. No one expects something for nothing. Now, they say they are not allowed to do this, not even if you pay them! They will, however, look at the card and tell you how MANY other people are buried in same grave so it isn't a matter of time. Last week I emailed Nab Wood Cemetery with a query and within a couple of hours I had the most pleasant & unexpected telephone call from one of the people who worked there. Query answered and a look up done without my asking for it. Undercliffe Cemetery is a brilliant place to find and obtain information from - all for the price of a donation. I have telephoned them in a morning and left the names I am searching for and then been asked to ring back in the afternoon when the information is ready or if the people are not buried there I am told so. A very good experience. Think I ought to have put a warning at the beginning of this email about the length of it. Sorry. 3. Thank you Judith. That was exactly the information I needed. Looks like I shall have to be content with finding information from my ancestor graves in Undercliffe Cemetery for the time being. Pity, as the older graves are in Scholemoor Cemetery, and might have yielded some useful information, but £30+ on the off chance there might be something interesting is a bit steep. I have other primary sources which will do for my purposes. Trevor
