As it happens, I believe I have an Abraham Swaine somewhere in my tree in Bradford, but pinning down which one he was is no easy task. There were FIVE Abraham Swaines married at Bradford between 1778 and 1831, not necessarily all different men. One or two may have been widowed and remarried. -- Roy Stockdill Editor, Journal of One-Name Studies Guild of One-Name Studies website: www.one-name.org Newbies' Guide to Genealogy & Family History: www.genuki.org.uk/gs/Newbie.html "There is only one thing in the world worse than being talked about, and that is not being talked about." To: eng-yks-bradford@rootsweb.com Message-ID: <ce5.20c7136e.34675591@aol.com> Content-Type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII" ..Went back and took a look at the Rambling Round Horton book and see that they tell all about the early Swaines who helped settle Horton..but when they get to the bunch that lived in Little Horton..they sort of say they do not have much about them..and of course they are the ones that I am looking for..Am thinking that my Thomas Swaine worked at the inn for his g.uncle and then when he died the wife ran it with her daughter..but then she died and maybe Thomas inherited it then..Thomas with his wife Maria Hudson ran it till his death in 1855 and then she did till she died in 1902..His father was Richard Swaine wife Ruth ..and his father was JohnSwaine wife Lydia Hillam..and his father James Swaine??..but still cannot pin them all down for sure.. The Holdsworth,Jowlett,Booth,Ramsden,Priestley all lived in the Gr.Horton area and at one time or other married into the Swaine line..They all have an interesting history and am so glad that there was a book written about the Horton area or I would be even more confused than I am. Thanks all..C.Olsen in Alaska. ************************************** See what's new at http://www.aol.com ------------------------------ Message: 3 Date: Sat, 10 Nov 2007 19:18:05 -0000 From: "Janet Ogden" <janet@janetsfamilies.f2s.com> Subject: Re: [YKS-BRADFORD] Rambles Round Horton..
