    3. Hi Everyone NOT sure if you all know that this list not only covers Bradford BUT the whole of the BD Postal area, which is very extensive, the naming of the list is what causes the problem – but there was no easy way around it. The BD postal code is very widespread, it spans both west and north Yorkshire, covering some of the Yorkshire Dales and of course Haworth – Bronte Country, below are as many of the places covered as I can find, please feel free to add to this list. Eccleshill, Fagley. Barkerend, Bradford Moor, Thornbury, Bierley, Bowling, East Bierley, Laisterdyke, Tong, Tyersal, Little Horton, West Bowling, Buttershaw, Wibsey, Great Horton, Lidget Green, Girlington, Manningham, Lower Grange, Frizinghall, Heaton, Apperley Bridge, Eccleshill, Greengates, Idle, Thackley, Birkenshaw, Drighlington.Low Moor, Oakenshaw, Wyke, Cleckheaton, Gomersal, Scholes, Allerton, Denholme, Queensbury, Thornton. Clayton Cullingworth, Wilsden, Bingley, Cottingley, Eldwick, Harden, Baildon, Shipley. Saltaire, Cononley, Cross Hills, Glusburn, Silsden, Steeton, Sutton-in-Craven. Giggleswick, Horton in Ribblesdale, Settle. The late 18th and 19th century Bradford was important as a major producer of textiles and became known as the woollen centre of the world. What is lesser known is the Cotton Industry which thrived in this area also. If anyone is interested I am webmaster, archivist and newsletter editor for Keighley & District Local History Society. I am hoping that contacting you might result in some of you sharing anything you know about Keighley, it’s people and your ancestors. We have many people on the website who are researching people and places, your information could be invaluable as is the reverse of course. Ww try and add flesh to the bones and have some excellent discussions. I set the website up two years ago for the society and this now gets 4,000 ++ hits per week - and to date we have approx 117 on the forum alone, which is very good. I am always looking for anecdotes, pictures, ephemera etc about the town. I wonder if you would care to join us on the site. The web site is at HYPERLINK "http://www.keighleyhistory.co.uk"www.keighleyhistory.co.uk and to access the FORUM look down the left hand side, find Forum and click on the link within that tab……………………………or click or cut and paste the following URL. HYPERLINK "http://keighleyhistory.proboards102.com/index.cgi"http://keighleyhistory.pr oboards102.com/index.cgi We are trying to get more people who perhaps know about Keighley and their own ancestry – or people who want more information on both these subjects. So we have a give and take attitude, lots of help is available should you require it. We have masses of pictures of Keighley as it used to be. The Forum consists of a General Board, a What’s on board and a Family History board……………………. Please, please come and have a look a few of the list have already shared some of their photographs with the society and they can be found on the web site. We are all volunteers who run the society and we range in age from ? to over 80 – my own Grand daughter who is 9 loves our history and now wants to set up a junior history society at Nessfield School here in Exley Head, Keighley. Look forward to hearing from some of you. Thanks for bearing with me. Jan No virus found in this outgoing message. Checked by AVG.
