    3. Yes Keith it would be most likely that both earlier names would be on the marriage cert. Also of course getting the birth cert of a daughter of the first marriage would give the mother's maiden name. Subject: [YKS-BRADFORD] Ramsdens in Bradford Hello Listers I have been trying to find the maiden name of Caroline Howcroft who was a widow when she married Alfred A(u)gustus Ramsden in 3/1890 Bradford (Vol. 9b, Page 376); she apparently originated from Knaresborough. They lived at 98 St Leonard's Road, Bradford in the 1901 Census. In the 1881 Census, she was living at 5 Back Girlington Road, along with her three daughters, two of whom went to live at her new marital home. In the 1881 Census she is shown as a widow from a place which could be taken for an abbreviation of Knaresborough. Would anybody know that if I obtained a copy of the marriage certificate for Alfred A(u)gustus Ramsden and Caroline, would this indicate her maiden name? The reason for the brackets round the 'u' is that apparently he was originally christened Agustus, but this seems to have changed as the years have passed. In fact he had a son in 1880 from his first marriage, named Alfred Augustus Ramsden. I would appreciate any useful information Kindest regards Keith ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to ENG-YKS-BRADFORD-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message
