    1. Re: [YKS-BRADFORD] To Locate Sidney V. Bruce

    3. Hi Everyone This is my first posting to the group, and I am trying to trace a SIDNEY V BRUCE who was born in 1914 at Keighley. This person is a 1st cousin to my father and have only traced him being a member of our family tree recently. Now, as you can see if he would be alive today he would be 94 years, and so I am not sure if I should be searching for a burial or if he might still be alive. I am also not sure if he might have been in WWII or not. Can someone on the list from the Bradford area please advise me how do I go about trying to trace this person. as all I know of him at the moment is his name and his year of birth. I tried army sites on line but it seems I have to give things like regiment and the like for them to tell me if he was there, and if I had that information, I would not want to ask the question in the first place. Also how many cemeteries are there in Keighley and is there some index of names for those interred that can be viewed somewhere, in the quest to track where Sidney might be. I am only assuming at this stage that the family lived their life still in the Keighley area. Any advise will be appreciated for me to get started on locating the above individual. 3. Margaret There is no trace of a Death Registration for a Sydney V BRUCE between 1984 and 2005 on ancestry, but there is a Sydney BRUCE b 7 January 1914 d July 1987 in Walsall Staffordshire - this may or may not be your man...... without more info it's not possible to tell...... There is no easy way, but it may be possible to check for a marriage registration or death registration, quarter by quarter, between 1914 and 1983 on a subscription site such as ancestry..... but it will take several hours even with a fast broadband...... But there is no trace of a birth registration in Keighley around 1914, nor of any telephone directory entry (from those transcribed)......
