    3. From: Lisa Warnes <lisawarnes@hotmail.com> > > Hello List, > > Does anyone have connections with the RAWNSLEY line?> I am sorry but I am going to have to issue one of my periodic little homilies on how to post a query! Your query as it stands is virtually meaningless because of the paucity of information. RAWNSLEY is a fairly common surname in West Yorkshire (my best friend at grammar school in the 1950s was a lad called Rawnsley) and there will be numerous families of the name, not necessarily related to one another at all. To give you an example of how overwhelmingly a W Riding surname it is, consider these figures from the 1881 census, derived from the CD program Surname Atlas..... There were 978 entries for the name in 1881, of which 913 were in Yorkshire West Riding - an extraordinary 93 per cent. Of this total, far the greatest number - 382 occurrences - were in Bradford. As I said, many of those would belong to different families, so to talk about the "Rawnsley" line is pointless. You do not even give names or dates! People will waste bandwidth by replying to your vague message, saying they have a Rawnsley but unless they know WHICH FAMILY you are talking about they will be wasting your, their's and everybody else's time. So please post again, this time giving as much information as possible, i.e. names, dates, places, etc. -- Roy Stockdill Professional genealogical researcher, writer & lecturer Newbies' Guide to Genealogy & Family History: www.genuki.org.uk/gs/Newbie.html "There is only one thing in the world worse than being talked about, and that is not being talked about." 2. Margaret Elliott
    3. Martha RUSHWORTH/RUSHFORTH was married to Thomas BREAR in Bradford in 1810. She died in Manningham in 1864, age given as 83, but her age on the 1851 and 1861 census suggested a birthdate of 1885, so she was probably born between 1881 and 1885. Her birthplace on the census was given as Bradford and Manningham. I am 99% sure that she was the daughter of William RUSHWORTH and Susanna WILD who married in Bradford in 1779. Susanna was then a widow. However I have never been able to find MARTHA'S birth to prove the connection. Please can anyone help? Regards Margaret Switzerland
