    1. [ BRAD] RE: [YKS] 1837 online (cross posted)
    2. dave knowles
    3. Don't bother. It's a rip off. If you don't have a reasonably accurate idea of when the birth was REGISTERED, then you may spend a lot of money searching as the site doesn't give returns on specific names but parts of the register. If you search eg knowles born (registered) 1st quarter of 1840 to last quarter 1841, then you are presented with almost 500 pages which need looking at. You then have to guess which pages might contain the name you are looking for, but as they are presented in quarters, you will have to look at each quarter. If you buy ?5 unit (55 hits), you may well use this up before you find the name. When you DO find the name, all you will get is the GRO reference, so you will NOT find a birth (or death or marriage) date via this route, but will need to order the certificate. Now I know that is the normal course of doing things, but this is very time consuming and expensive. Personally, I'll stick to Free BMD for anything prior to 1902 and only use this for later events which my relatives cannot help with. 1. [ BRAD] Undercliff cemetery etc
    2. keith jeffery
    3. Dear Listers, After the stunning help I received for my Ripon Street enquiry, this follows on............. Great grandma died in 1901, and now I'd like to find her grave. The family attended the Wesleyan chapel on the corner of Otley Road - can someone tell me if there is a graveyard there? And if so is there a way I can find burial records from this distance? The other alternative is the Undercliff cemetery just across the road - again, is there a reference place for their records? Regards, Knola, New Zealand

    1. [ BRAD] Alice KING
    2. Margaret Elliott
    3. Not sure if this has been posted, with all the Rootsweb problems . Apologies if you have already received it. Could I request someone to check the 1861 census for me to see if there is an Alice KING listed. She would be about 70, and might have been living in a household headed by Benjamin CLARK. I sent off for a death certificate, convinced I had found her death in 1857, but this Alice KING was not mine. So if anyone is looking for the Bradford death of an Alice KING age 55, wife of John, a carpet weaver, I shall be happy to send them the certificate! Margaret

    1. [ BRAD] Fw: 1851 Census Cards - Bradford
    2. Judith Kettlewell
    3. Hello Looks like the Bradford list is up and running again. Many thanks to the list owner. I sent this message just before the server went down and didn't see it appear so here goes again. I have just received the Marriage Certificate [after many years of searching] for my 2xgt grandparents. If anyone is going to Bradford Library could I please ask for a look up on the 1851 Census cards. I will be forever grateful. I only have names as the address on the marriage certificate [1852] just said Bradford. The names are:- James HAINSWORTH who should - hopefully - be living with his father William HAINSWORTH & family. James would be about 27 years. James was a comber - William was a labourer. Hannah WATMOUGH/Watmuff daughter of Joshua WATMOUGH/WATMUFF, she would be about 22 years. As Hannah was a servant she may not be with her family. Joshua was a comber. Any help much appreciated. Thank you. Kind regards Judith Kettlewell

    1. [ BRAD] Resending COCKROFT
    2. If the Bradford net is back up, you should all get this. My dilemma is Minnie (born in 1864 in Bradford, the second oldest daughter of my grt. grandfather RICHARD COCKROFT.  I received  a very black copy of the Yorkshire Daily Observer from the Bradford Library and it looks like the marriage of this 2nd daughter was named Rose. Could someone in Bradford (when you go to the library) look this marriage up for me?  It is from the newspaper of 18-9-1906, pg. 8 Marriages.  LISTER married COCKCROFT (with another C)  It says she is the second daughter of Mr. C COCKCROFT of Richmond Rd. My grt. grandfather's house was at 17 Richmond Rd. but his name was Richard.  He did not have a brother named Charles. The mystery deepens. Diane in California
