Hi Everyone, I'm sure there are a few on the list who will be interested to have proof that Elizabeth Sutcliffe the sister of Pheobe Sutcliffe did indeed marry the Abraham Mitchell... So on reading the funeral report you will find she is sitting in the first carriage with one of her sons Herbert and one of her daughters...Annie (Hannah) Phoebe Sutcliffe we have already established married Abraham's younger brother Joseph Mitchell. The marriage took place at Bierley Parish Church , Bradford in the County of York. on 3rd of August 1852... Abraham Mitchell was 27 - occupation Worsted Spinner Elizabeth Sutcliffe was 19 - Spinister Father of the bridegroom was Thomas Mitchell - Manufacturer Father of the bride was William Sutcliffe - Manufacturer Both signed their own names - Witnesses to the marriage were William Sutcliffe who signed and Thomas Beetham or Beettam made his mark X This church seemed to have hosted a lot of marriage for this family Mitchells'. This includes Abraham's cousins, uncles and aunties. That's all folks
If anyone has access to the Surname index for 1871 Bradford census, I would appreciate a lookup for: Abraham MOULSON, Cabinetmaker (at least, he was on 1881 census) Mary, wife Sarah, daughter William, son Michael RYAN, Tailor, born Ireland Margaret, wife I trust this is enough information? If not, thanks anyway. -- Wendy Leyland

Hello All: I am looking for a widow Hannah Thornton, born 1830+/- in Mayo, Ireland, her husband was Richard Thornton and he died pre 1890 he had been a General Dealer, and her daughter Catherine, born 1867+/- in Bradford. Catherine married a Robert Scott , and are found in the West Hartlepool, Durham County census 1901. Would any of the above be listed in the 1871, 1881 1891 census? It is possible that Catherine and Hannah were living in Shipley in 1881. Is there an address for them? Thank you ever so much Dawn S. Hopkins Nova Scotia, Canada

As will were proved at York untill 1858, when the system changed. You have to get in touch with them, and they ask for payment up front. If this does not work, you could try The link to the Court Service website Regards Janet http://www.courtservice.gov.uk/ Click on wills and probate at the following url http://www.courtservice.gov.uk/wills_probate/menu_prob.htm > > > > Hi All, > > I am hoping that someone may be able to advise me as to how I can find out > if a person left a Will and if they did, how do I go about finding it. Hello Good List Folk, Great-Grandfather Edward ANDREW was a police constable in Bradford, 1880-1895. According to family legend, he was attacked (not long before his death in March 1995) and had his beard pulled out! I don't know to which police force he belonged. Does anyone know of any action in which the police were involved when this might have happened, say late 1894-early 1895? I would be grateful for any help on this. Thank you. Pat Andrew Victoria BC Canada

Hi All, I am hoping that someone may be able to advise me as to how I can find out if a person left a Will and if they did, how do I go about finding it. My gg grandfathr died 14March 1856 at 78 Bridge Street, Bradford. The Registration District was Bradford & North Brierley, Yorkshire. Perhaps someone could recommend a reliable researcher (one who charges reasonable rates) who could look up the details for me. Hi everyone, I have certainly had a great deal of success from posting the funeral report of Abrham Mitchell so it was certainly worth all the time to type out... I do have crrect to two naes in the carriages... I had Mr and Mrs Anne Crabtree the correct name is after studying the page really hard..(extremely small type) was Mr and Mrs AMOS Crabtree. living in Greaves St, Horton...wife's name was Jane Crabtree...hope that helps someone. Now second correction is Mr T. W. Westnerhead was in fact Mr T.W. Weatherhead...sorry about the mistakes but it was so small the type face used... Well they were the stand out errors... Now my Mr H Mitchell and in the Abraham Mitchell funeral in 1896 there was a Harry Mitchell .. I am looking for a Henry Mitchell chr. 19th July 1799..Father Francis ( Frank ) Mitchell. The Will was written 10th June 1842 and Francis dies on 18th September 1842 On the back page of the Will were the executors names and his son Henry Mitchell's address was Manchester Rd, Horton Bradford. The date of this information was the 9th December 1842 but not there in the 1841 census... Can anyone assist. Big ask and there were no doubt numerous Henry ( may be called Harry) Mitchell's at this time... Kind Regards Lori Mitchell .
