    1. [ BRAD] MURGATROYD of Illingworth.
    2. Mal Pace
    3. Hi there and good afternoon, I sent a message to both lists on 28th and haven't seen it 'pop up' yet, so thought I'd send again. Sorry if it is a duplicate. Can any Lister lay claim to William MURGATROYD c1730 in Illingworth, or does anyone have a connection to this particular line? I am also researching MURGATROYDs in Birstall and Baildon and if you have any connection to them I would be more than happy to hear from you! Cheers, Mal.

Diane has simply cross-posted this message to several lists. James Maybrick, the alleged Jack the Ripper (I say "alleged" because I know a lot about the Ripper crimes and I am far from convinced) was from Liverpool and the supposed illegitimate son of Florence Maybrick, William Graham, was said to have been born in Hartlepool. I've got the book and there's no mention of any Bradford connection at all. The message appears to be primarily aimed at getting people to join a mailing list to debate whether James Maybrick was the Ripper or not. 3. HI List Know this is not the Wakefield List...................BUT wonder if someone could perhaps help a friend of mine........ "Maybe you could help me ... if you don't mind :)) I'm trying to track down some details of a William Briggs father of Thomas Pilkington Briggs my gg grandfather. Will was born around 1810 and I am presuming, just for the moment that he was born in Wakefield as so far everybody else has been ... I know this is a bit of a dangerous assumption but you've got to start somewhere and the 1841 census doesn't state where he was born ... not even whether it was the same county (which wouldn't help much 'cause the West Riding was a pretty big place). this is just typical of my family!! The IGI has a listing for a William Briggs born 1808 in Thorner ... was there an actual place called Thorner or is it possibly an error and should be Thornes ie part of Wakefield? There is another listing for a Will in 1810 in Wakefield but it is in the Salem Chapel George Street, and I don't have any other evidence to say they frequented this type of church as the boys were christened in I believe! the ordinary CofE church. Do any of your friends have a copy of the 1851 census that would be willing to look up Will and family (Mary, wife and Thomas, Robert and William) for me and be able to tell me where he and his wife Mary were born. On the 1841 census he was living in Thornes just down the road from Gregory's Row (I think but the CD image is very faint and hard to make out)." Warmest Wishes Jan in Bronte Country. 3. Hi David The Bronte Museum has an extract of the MI's for Haworth Graveyard, and I think that Keighley library may have a copy. I seem to remember that you have to make an appointment to examine the MI's at the museum. When I visited they were not indexed, and some of the graves appeared to contain persons who are not related. 1. [ BRAD] Can anyone help my friend and I solve this mystery please?
    2. diane SOWDEN
    3. My friend and I are trying to solve this mystery, can you help us at all. My friend's email address is JamesMaybrick_is_JacktheRipper@yahoogroups.co.uk ADVICE ON SEARCHING FOR THE FAMILY OF FLORENCE MAYBRICK NAMELY HER SON SHE HAD WITH HENRY STANLEY FLINN. HE WAS BORN 1879 IN LIVERPOOL. Florence Maybrick was the wife of James Maybrick who was Jack the Ripper. Florence had an illegitimate son with Henry Stanley Flinn, who was a Ship Owner from Liverpool. He owned the Dominion and Mississippi Steam Ship Line. Florie named this child William, when he was born. Florie then had the baby adopted by MR AND MRS GRAHAM of Hartlepool Durham. As Henry Stanley Flinn is my husband's 4 cousin, I would very much like to trace the family but I don't know how to go about it. I have written to Anne E Graham, who is mentioned in the Book JACK THE RIPPER - THE FINAL CHAPTER. In fact, she helped to write the book, but she couldn't tell me where to go from where I have got to in my research. I wonder whether you could help me or not? I have found him on the 1881 census, and also the 1901 census. Now I would like to come forward and trace his family, as they are my husband's relations. Any ideas on how to do this would be most welcome. From Diane Sowden --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Checked by AVG anti-virus system (http://www.grisoft.com).
