Hello Allie, I have a Hannah Jowett born 1804 married William Tordoff in Bradford in 1827; and another Hannah Jowett born abt 1820 who married a George Tordoff in Bradford in 1847. Also a Sarah Ann Jowett born abt 1825 who married a Jonas Tordoff. Does any of this ring any bells? Hi, I have had no Bradford List mail since Sunday and it is now Wednesday pm - is there a problem or are you all having forty winks? Cheers, Mal, in windy springtime NZ.
It is quiet at the moment - I had thought it was my ageing computer giving up on me. So, can anyone help me with some problems? Bradford is only a small part of my family history, but is sure gives me the most difficulty. First of all I am trying to find some CLARKs on the 1851 cenusus. The ones I am looking for would be in their seventies, and born in Leeds. Nothing else to go on, except that they had a son called Benjamin, but he had left home by then. The other problem concerns David BREAR and Mary HAIGH who were married in the Parish Church in Bradford in 1841. David was the son of Thomas and Martha BREAR, born about 1818, and Mary was the daughter of Thomas and Mary HAIGH, born about 1820/1, but I cannot find either birth. Can anyone help? Greetings to all Margaret
I've noticed too. I had one on the 14th and two on the 13th. That's all. Diane in California
Hello I spotted this marriage in an old 1874 Baptist newspaper. Thought it might help someone. MIDGLEY-SMITH July 28 (1874) in the Baptist Chapel , Sutton in Craven Yorkshire,by the Rev. W.E.Archer, Joseph Midgley to Ann Smith both of Sutton Mill. Regards Lynne Smith
Hi.............I'm new on this list and wondered if anyone has access to the 1871 Bradford census that they could look up a James Firth b abt 1864 for me? He married Mary Alice Acaster and had Alfred Arthur in 1896 in Morley. This is all I have on them. Any help will be much appreciated. Regards, Kim May
G'day Listers, Has anyone on the list been to Bowling Cemetery..? There is a grave there belonging to the surname Bottomley... Christain names are Joseph, Susannah, William and Samuel... Photo of the grave has been taken by Karen. Kind Regards Lori Mitchell
Does anyone know anything about "Nipper" Thornton who was a proffesional boxer about the 1940's? He came from the Bradford area. Wyke I think. Thanks in advance, Denise V --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! SiteBuilder - Free, easy-to-use web site design software
G'day to all our generous looker-uppers! I'd be very grateful if someone could look up the 1851,1861,1871, and 1881 Censi for ALLERTON, for the following families, please. (1841 = worsted weaver of Hill Top, Allerton) Jonathan LEACH b. 1811-1877 & wife Sarah/Sally (Sarah/Sally only in 1881) (1841 = shoemaker no street given but directory addresses = New Row/Road; 1891 = North Road/View, Allerton - also was a newsagent) Samuel LEACH b. 1853 & wife Betsy (1881 only) ?Chapel Row/Terrace, Allerton If you come across nearby siblings in your searches I would be interested in their occupations and addresses - no need for family details.
