    3. Hi Bill There is a burial of Plateras Lawson JACQUES in Utley Cemetery, Keighley. The full details are in Volume 7 of the Monumental Inscriptions of Utley Cemetery which were transcribed by the Keighley & District FHS. I don't have this volume so cannot help further. There are a further 29 JACQUES people named in the Index. Blessings. 3. Have a look at http://www.workhouses.org.uk/ Go down through the menu on the left until you find the Bradford workhouse. However it indicates that the records which include: Various minutes (1837-1930); Admissions and discharges (1857-1930); Births and deaths (1838-1930); Creed registers (1869-1930); Punishment book (188-1930); etc. are held by the West Yorkshire Archive Service — Bradford, Registry of Deeds, 15 Canal Road, Bradford BD1 4AT. I believe you can request them to do a search for you. 1. 1851 census lookup - James SYKES age 42 (see below)
    2. Cas and LISA Liber (& family)
    3. Hi all, I'm back after unsubscribing for a month - as luck would have it the film I ordered (Drighlington Monumental inscriptions) from my local LDS arrived a few days before I was to leave for hols and I mananged to look at it for 1 day before it had to be returned. However I was in luck as I did find a couple of things out on tombstones of direct ancestors of help. On a tombstone of my ancestors - Joseph SYKES and Elizabeth THACKRAH/THACKRAY (etc.) of Drighlington: ---------------------------------------------- In memory of Elizabeth wife of Joseph Sykes of Drighlington and daughter of John Thackrah of Tong Lane End who departed this life February 13, 1820 age 41 Also of James son died 20 Sep 1859 age 50 Also of Joseph Sykes who died Nov 18th 1860 aged 80 ------------------------------------------------ The james bit intrigued me - I was wondering if anyone could look up 1851 for James SYKES in Drighlington who would have been born 1809 (and hence be about 42) and have a birthplace possibly listed as Tong (?). This may help me pinpoint Joseph as being in Tong for a while after he got married... PS: I can't thank Arthur Blackburn enough for his transcriptions 80 odd years ago

    2. William Cooke
    3. Hello, list: Thanks to Janet C who was able to find my gg-grandfather Platerous Lawson JACQUES in the 1841 Census along with his brothers George and Henry and their mother Elizabeth. Janet also found John Corlass JACQUES in the 1851 Census in East Morton. Thanks also to Jan Perkins who found quite a few JACQUESs in Keighley in the 1851, 1861 and 1871 Census — all descendants of my ggg-grandfather David JACQUES (abt 1792 - 1831). I should also have mentioned that there are two Platerous Lawson JACQUESs — my gg-grandfather who was born in 1828 and his nephew who was born in 1863. At the time of the 1851 Census my gg-grandfather may have been living in Bradford. He married Ellen JENNINGS in July of 1851 and their first two children were born in Bradford. Their third child was born in Augusta, Maine abt 1861 but the family was back in Yorkshire for the birth of their fourth in 1863. Their last child, my great-grandfather, was born in Keighley in 1869. Platerous died in 1870, however, the family was still in Keighley in 1875 when Ellen married Isaac HOLMES. So I am now looking for Plateras Lawson JACQUES and Ellen JENNINGS in the 1851 Census in Bradford, and John Corlass JACQUES in the 1851, 1861, and 1871 Census in East Morton, which I understand is located within the parish of Bingley. Thanks again for your help. Bill Cooke Ontario, Canada

    3. Hi Yorkins I've just gone back to researching these two branches of my family. Is anyone else researching the WADDINGTON's of Bingley and the ACKROYDS of Manningham, Bradford. The furthest back I have got with my ACKROYDS is my 3xgt grandfather - Thomas ACKROYD who was born c1793 and married Ruth DOWNS born c1797. They had at least 13 children. Some of the WADDINGTON information I have has come from the book 'Who's Who in the Family of WADDINGTON. Verified information I have on my WADDINGTON's starts with my 3xgt grandfather - Robert WADDINGTON born c1769 who married Lydia FOWLDS/FOULDS born c1784. They married 1803. Both of Bingley. They had 10 children [at least] Would love to hear from anyone who might be researching these families. Blessings. Judith Kettlewell
