    3. Nah then, lads an' lasses,it's Yorkshire Day sithee. And that's as far as I'm going with the language my Grandad Oates spoke fluently. So,in ordinary English, the warmest of good wishes to all who were born and bred in God's Own County----from Teesmouth to Humber Estuary, from Flamborough Head to Trough of Bowland, and all points in between. And the same warm wishes to all those who are elsewhere in the world, but who are lucky enough to have a Yorkshire ancestry. Fly your Yorkshire flag, and wear your white rose, with pride for all things Yorkshire. Tuck in to Whitby dabs,York Ham and Yorkshire salad,Yorkshire pudding,Yorkshire parkin and Yorkshire curd tart.In other words, enjoy the day thoroughly. Best Wishes to You All------Derek Barraclough [a true Yorkshire surname,if ever there was one] ps.The eating of Morecambe Bay shrimps, Lancashire hotpot,Manchester Tart and Eccles cakes is strictly forbidden on this day !

    3. Hello..I was trying to find a family in 1891 census by a residence 48 King Charles Street, Bradford. It was not there...so I downloaded the census image page for no. 50.... Now No.48 was on the page as well but on checking the address it was for (or at least it looks like ) King Charles COURT..So is there a King Charles Street AND also a King Charles Court......or is it a mistake..(mine or the census writer?) I seem to remember seeing King Charles Street in Otley Road when I was young......Regards and Thank You Bernard Porrelli

    3. Hi Bernard The Alan Godfrey reproduction of the 1908 street map shows King Charles Street running westwards from Otley Road to North Wing. Going north up Otley Road it's the second on the left, between Paper Hall Street and Cavalier Street. I'm pretty sure King Charles Court would have been off King Charles Street - on the map all the houses in that area look like back-to-backs, and most of the named streets have a small entry leading to a courtyard (= xxx Court?) for access to the inner houses. 3. Christine, Thanks so much for the recent marriage info. Did not know when they were married but this seems to be them as Zillah was born 1878-1879 (their first child). Would there be additional info if I got the certificate? Would that give her father's name? Whatever info you've come across on this family would be appreciated. I'm pretty well overwhelmed with all the info you have located that I need to take time to sort it all out. As for the change in the Stephenson to Stevenson spelling or the name of head of household from Samuel to Benjamine Benn, I haven't a clue. I know that Margaret had a brother William who also came to the USA ( mentioned in her obit) but so far have not tried to locate any of his decendents.
