    3. Could anyone tell me where I might find information on where there were paper mills in 1820 to 1839? Have an ancestor who was a paper maker in 1841 & 1851 census in Staffordshire but had come from Worcestershire and Warwickshire. He was married in Bidford-on-avon in 1833. Am trying to find out where he might have come from. Rosalie Trim Australia

    3. Rosalie I have been looking for more information on a man who had a paper mill on the banks of Leigh Brook near Alfrick in Worcestershire. He may be an ancestor of mine. There is a paragraph about him in a book I have called Pictures of Nature by Edwin Lees. It describes him as a poor Welshman with a large family whose business failed and he emigrated to Australia to search for gold. My family name is Jones, but he is not named in the book. Let me know if you think there is a connection. 3. "For what it's worth" ... The Parish of Dodderhill - slightly North and East of Droitwich - included an 'old' Extra-Parochial Area called 'Paper Mills' that had a brief life as a separate Civil Parish between 1858 and 1884 before being amalgamated within Dodderhill. It presumably lay at the end of today's 'Paper Mill Lane' to the West of the A38 in Wychbold, and almost directly opposite to the BBC Radio Transmission Towers. But whether, when - or even if - there was was a paper mill there I don't know. It would seem probable, though, as the area was exempt from local taxes, which could make sense for such an important manufacturing facility. 3. Hi I have ancestors whose address was the Paper mill Web Heath which is part of TARDEBIGGE, which is between Bromsgrove and Redditch, this is on the boarders between Worcestershire and Warwickshire. The paper mill was I believe to be close to Hewell Kennels. If you go to http://www.old-maps.co.uk/ and enter Tardebigge then scroll across and down to below the lake, you should just be able to read Lodge, then select enlarged view you will see the location of the paper mill. I have not done any research into the mill.
