Hello Campbell, Berrows Worcester Journal - "The Oldest Newspaper In The World" ** - is still Alive and Well. Their website would seem to be < www.thisisworcester..co.uk > - or at least *was* in late 2001. ** Continuously-published, that is. And a Weekly. Founded 1692 I don't know offhand of a Diglis-based newspaper, for as far as I'm aware Berrows was produced at The Trinity, very close to the City Centre. But the company also produced a daily Evening Paper - "The News" (or maybe "The Times") which was amalgamated with its rival around the mid-1930s. Fred BATES could have worked for any of them - and the other *might* have been produced in Diglis, some ¾ mile South of The Trinity.
