    1. Help with my STOKES lines, please!!

    3. Hi Listers This probably sounds naïve, but believe me, it's a real problem. One set of my GGP came from WOR, Thomas STOKES and Lucy WOODWARD, who married in Upper Howsell in 1870. They each had a STOKES as a parent. Thomas's parents were Charles STOKES and Ann NOTT, m St Edburga, Leigh, in 1847. Lucy's were William WOODWARD and Ann STOKES, also m in Leigh, 1846. Charles and Ann STOKES are not related, as far as I can tell. To make things worse, William's mother was Mary STOKES, who is unrelated to either of them. It seems that severe deafness ran in Mary's family, affecting at least her brother and one of her sons. I now find that Ann STOKES, (father John) had a mother Ann [EVANS], whose parents were John EVANS and Elizabeth . . . STOKES! It's the recording which is getting to me, kind listers. One name is tough enough to organise. How do I distinguish between files on these four unrelated lines of STOKES - bearing in mind that at some stage, two or more might happen to link up. If anyone has had this problem, or has bright ideas about dealing with it, please let me know. Kind regards Joy also looking into LINTON, STEPHENS, LAURENCE, GARRET (Leigh/Bransford, Kempsey) and HARRIS, WARD, YARNOLD (Peopleton, Pensax, Halesowen)
