    3. I just obtained the marriage certificate of my ggg grand parents James Hudson and Mary Ann Allies who were married in Worcester on April 19, 1857. They are both reported to be living in Wellington Square and according to the certificate the wedding took place at St. Paul's Church in Worcester. Could anyone shed any light as to what census district Wellington Square and/or St. Paul's would have been in for the 1851 census? Thanks for any help that anyone can give me. John Zinn

    3. Hello John, While I don't recognise Wellington Square - which had probably been 'redeveloped' (or even renamed) in the century before i took an interest in the area - I can be reasonably certain where it was. A Multimap Ordnance Survey reference of SO855547 (West of the canal, and just North of the canal Bridge) should be *very* close to where it was. It was in the (Civil) Extra-Parochial Area of "The Blockhouse", and is on the 1851 in Piece 2042, Folios 583-627, at the very beginning of Registration District 3 - Worcester South. Ecclesiastically, it fell into the 'new' (church consecrated 1845 - but I believe demolished and rebuilt c.1890) Parish of St Paul.
