I have Milbro (Milborough) PORTMAN widow, living in Sandlin, Leigh on the 1851 census with Henry son age 25 shoemaker Elizabeth dau age 22 glover Susan JONES Lodger (actually daughter, Susannah PORTMAN) 28 Glover Charles JONES Lodger(Susan’s son) 8 Scholar John JONES lodger (Susan’s son) 3 Scholar Susan’s husband Peter JONES emigrated to America following his conversion to Mormonism in 1844. Susan would not go with him so they were divorced (info from a letter transcript) Charles is Peter’s child, John is not. Are they on the 1861 or later censuses in Alfrick, Leigh or surrounding area. I’m interested in Charles to see whether his descendants survive today. I have a great deal of information I acquired from Peter’s Mormon descendants whom I met on a recent trip to Utah. I found a Charles Jones marriage on FreeBMD for Mar 1866 Martley 6c 273, but don’t know if it’s the same Charles. Any assistance much appreciated.
