Hi John You queried this a long time ago, but I don't think I actually got round to telling you what I had found. Great Comberton parish registers - 11 December 1826 Richard Neither to Elizabeth Richardson. The groom only made his mark. I checked the Bishops Transcripts and the name has also been copied there as Neither. I suppose there are various names that it could have actually been. Perhaps Neave or Neath, but I have found a note I made concerning an article by John Titford in "Family Tree" magazine, entitled Some out-pensioners of Chelsea Hospital 1810 -1824 part 2, which mentioned a Richard Neither, so perhaps it really was Neither! John Titfords list relates to British soldiers from regiments involved in the capture and garrisoning of the Indian Ocean islands of Mauritius (Ile de France) and Reunion (Ile de Bourbon) who became out-pensioners of the Royal Hospital Chelsea and John included if known - where the man was living at the time the list was ordered by the House of Commons in 1826. In the case of Richard Neither no place is given just the date he was admitted to the pension list - 24 August 1817 and that he had served with the 56th Foot. Could this be a connection to your Richard Neither? As the other Worcestershire names may be of interest to listers here are the ones that John included in his two articles in the December 2004 and January 2005 issues of Family Tree magazine published by ABM Publishing Ltd 22nd Foot 9 August 1816 William Beard Worcester 9 August 1816 Richard Dilley Worcester 26 November 1817 James Pulley Worcester Other men of the 56th Foot listed in the second article as being from Worcestershire were:- 26 November 1817 Richard Beckly Kidderminster 7 February 1821 William Brown Worcester 26 November 1817 William Johnston Worcester 25 June 1823 Solomon Morley Kidderminster 25 June 1817 Jeremiah Neeson Worcester 4 September 1817 Jeffery Smith Droitwich 25 March 1819 Thomas Stanley Stratford (stet) Worcester 31 July 1822 James Weavers Worcester Regards Jacquie www.hartwright.info includes a list of 600+ other mainly Worcestershire names included in the same documents as Hartwright.
