Hi Jim, You don't say where or when you are looking. Generally, Littleton/Lyttleton pops up in Halgey over a few centuries and in 16th century Frankley. I'm also fairly certain that the names pops up in Warwickshire, possibly associated with Throgmorton. I have a personal interest too. In 1831, George HANDS was born in Kings Norton. (One of 11 children to Benjamin HANDS.) I have found out very little about George, a commercial traveller. He is buried with my lot in St. Nicolas churchyard, Kings Norton. He died in 1876. The MI says he was from The Heath, Stourport. Buried in the same grave, in 1885, was his eldest son George Lyttleton HANDS. I haven't yet tried to find the marriage, other than FreeBMD and my normal trawling. However there are no Littleton/Lyttleton anywhere else in the known tree. There are 3 LITTLETON marriages on FreeBMD between 1837 and 1881 in Worcestershire, but no LYTTLETONs. Get back if this means anything to you. -- Mike Yegwart Branch Chairman Bromsgrove BMSGH http://www.bromsgrovebmsgh.co.uk
Mike (and Jim), don't overlook the LYTTELTON variant (as in Humphrey!). FreeBMD has two LYTTELTON marriages in Worcestershire between those dates - William Henry in Droitwich, Sep 1854, and Lavinia in Bromsgrove, Jun 1870.
