But be warned, the transcription is not 100% reliable. I was thrown off the scent for quite a long time because 'Lucy Hill' in the original was wrongly trancribed as 'Mary Hill'. Hello Emily, Are you referring to the 1841 or 1851? Ray Friend, the Indexer of the (now S&N) 1851, was one of the most meticulous I've ever come across, and I'd back her version aginst all comers... But ALL Transcriptions will contain *some* errors (even hers, even up to her death she was still correcting them when she was told of any) - and that includes the very schedules we rely on... THEY were copied by the Enumerator from the Householders' Forms, and so are themselves only Secondary Documents ! Gus I support what you say about Ray Friend's Transcription and Indexing . I have only ever found 2 mistakes, in my family records, on 1851 WOR. One she was able to change the other have told the now owners of the Data base, about it, and they will if sufficent located, create one with these errors Amended. So people, tell S & N if you are working from their CD of Audrey's Friend's work, if you find a mistake - BUT include with your advice a copy of the original page from the census., so they can make their own judgement as to whether an error has occurred. I now own a scanned version of 1851 WOR Census from www.mycensuses.com Both errors, I found , were understandable - the original that Audrey had been working from, had writing that was barely legible. I knew what the scrawl was meant to indicate - she didn't !!!!
