Hi all the first thing you need is a marriage certificate or a view of the parish register for the marriage of William and Ann. On this it will give the father of William and the fathers occupation, from that you need his birth certificate with the correct father and this will give the name of the mother with her maiden name. You then look for the parents marriage in the same way if the events took place after 1st July 1837. You can then compare this information to all censuses.
