    3. Merely to add a little (nominal) Clarification to the earlier postings... The quoted Parish name is confusing - mainly because the area itself was confused and complex - but one thing can be said with certainty is that it WASN'T "In the Liberties Marlborough and Marlborough in the Vines"... Cross Way IS in 'The Vines' - immediately opposite "The Gardeners Arms" - but in 1851 was in Dodderhill Parish, being the part of that Parish that was 'within the Liberties of Droitwich Borough' and was created as a separate Civil Parish in 1866 named "Dodderhill In Liberties". It had only a short independent life, being abolished in 1884, and divided between Droitwich's 3 Parishes of SS Andrew, Nicholas and Peter. "Marlborough" was Extra-Parochial in 1851 and MAY have been in two separate parts - I've been unable to find any Map that shows its nominal boundaries, but it was 'taken' in 2 parts in the 1851 Census. So when the Civil Parish of "Marlborough in the Vines" was created in 1858 it MAY have had a Detached Portion that had originally been known as (plain) "Marlborough". It, too, was mercifully abolished in 1884, disappearing into St Nicholas. So Mr EVANS' Address would've been Cross Way Vines Lane [Dodderhill] In Liberties Droitwich. His wife Harriet evidently was employed by the Droitwich Private Lunatic Asylum - still happily standing, but now trading as "The Droitwich Working Mens Club"...
