Hi Folks I have just had a major breakthrough on my TUNKS line. I have found on the 1871 census a relative who I didn't know about. Isabella Tunks was born to Elizabeth Tunks, no father mentioned, in 1818 in Ludlow. On Isabella's marriage in 1841 to William Corfield, she notes Richard Tunks, farmer of Bitterley, as her father. On the 1871 census I find a Maria Jarman, widow born 1813, living with children of Isabella Tunks Corfield. She is noted as their Aunt. I have found Maria Tunks marrying a John Jarman in Aymestry, Hereford in 1833. Maria Jarman notes her birthplace as Ludlow on the 1871 census, but on the 1881, 1891 she is born in Bitterley. Maria and Isabella are obviously sisters. I need to find Maria and John Jarman on the 1841 and 1851 census, but not sure if it would be the Bitterley/Ludlow area or the Hereford area. Does anyone have access to these census?
