    3. Hi Trudy and Charles, I had a quick look on the Ancestry 1861 census but I am not sure how complete it is. I have two different LANE families in my tree and knowing how many of them are about I was sure there should have been more hits than this. I could not find any hits for EDWARD LANE aged 6 in Staffordshire, the only LANE's that came up for Oldbury was this family, but no Edward: 118, Langley Green, Oldbury in the village of Langley. Daniel Lane abt 1855 Oldbury, Worcestershire, England Son Oldbury Staffordshire Elizabeth Lane abt 1836 Oldbury, Worcestershire, England Daughter Oldbury Staffordshire Enoch Lane abt 1847 Dudley, Worcestershire, England Son Oldbury Staffordshire Mary Lane abt 1816 Oldbury, Worcestershire, England Wife Oldbury Staffordshire William Lane abt 1815 Gloucestershire, England Head Oldbury Staffordshire Are you sure Daniel here is not Edward?, I spent many years looking for my Ernest Wyer only to find out his name was really Samuel Ernest Wyer, he changed his name willy nilly for different census returns, just a thought. If you find any of your LANE family in either ASTON, Birmingham or CANNOCK, Staffordshire this is where my family were. All the best Lynn Paterson researching WYER <Could I please ask SKS for a look in the 1861 census for Edward LANE. <In the 1871 census he is living with his parents as a 16 year old boy in <Oldbury, Stafford <In the 1861 census he was not living with his parents but was probably with a <neighbour or relative. He should have been a 6 year old at the time of the 1861 <census.
