First of all can I say thank you to Mike, Liz,Chris & John for answering my e-mail it was very kind of you to take the time to send me the information. I was very unsure of Whithington/Whittington as before this my TUCKER's seemed to be in Oldswinford, Netherton & Dudley but as they did later show up in Rowley Regis then moving onto the South Yorkshire/Barnsley coalfields I SUPPOSE anything is possible. It was such a bad copy of the 1851 census I was lucky to be able to read as much as I did i never did find any other TUCKER families on it [even though I knew there should be some] I think I'm going to have to cast my net wider and beleive they could do and go most anywhere even without any transport. I did think that as I could not find a Samuel DIMMOCK on the census [Ann's father] that maybe if Sarah was her sister and the father had died that Charles and Ann might have took her in and just gave her bed & board for help with the children , thought maybe they'd said she was a servant to make themselves seem more important or something as i know coalminers did not get paid a lot of money so didn't know how they'd be able to afford to pay a servant[even though they earned a lot less than a miner]I had so much going round in my head thought somebody might have fresh views on it and you've given me even more to think about. As Liz said it's VERY addictive the more you find out the more you want to find out I seem to take 1 step forward then 3 backwards but on day I'll get there with a little help from such nice people as yourselves. So once again many thanks Denise Sargeant[ nee TUCKER]
