Hi Mike, Somewhere around 1629 an act was passed that people were to be buried in wool. Apparently the wool industry was not doing well and this was to be a boost to the industry. Parish registers show "Aff. made" usually meaning that a witness had confirmed that the person was buried in wool. The act was not repealed until the early 1800s but went out of mode long before then in many parishes. Pauline
